Person County Economic Development Welcomes New Assistant Director

October 8, 2021

Person County Economic Development Department is pleased to announce the addition of a new staff member. Mr. Michael Thibault (pronounced Tee- bo) joined the department on September 27th as the Assistant Economic Development Director.

Person County Economic Development Director, Sherry Wilborn, commented, “Michael comes to Person County from Maryland and has 35 years of experience in commercial lending, as well as having owned his own business. Both his background and congenial nature make him a natural fit to support our local business and industry. I look forward to all that he will add to our team and this community!”

Michael and his family do not come to Person County without knowledge of the area. They have owned a home at Mayo Lake and have made routine trips to Roxboro for the past three years.

When asked about relocating to Person County, Michael stated, “While the primary draw for my wife and I to this area of North Carolina were our children and grandchildren that live in Raleigh, the more we explored all that Person County has to offer really cemented our desire to relocate to our Mayo Lake home full time. Person County is ideally located and offers a wide variety of employment, educational, social and recreational opportunities. There’s also the Memorial Hospital, plenty of local shopping, great restaurants, wineries, craft breweries and even an airport. All of these local amenities in addition to close proximity to many other activities just a short drive away in the Triangle Region makes Roxboro the perfect spot for us. Our neighbors and other folks we’ve met in the County have all been warm and welcoming and Lisa and I couldn’t be more pleased with our decision to make Person County our new home!”
