The Person County Economic Development Commission is comprised of business and community leaders that touch every aspect of economic development including local government officials, workforce development professionals, small business owners and citizens.

Sherry Wilborn, CEcD


Sherry is a native of Person County and has served the Economic Development Department since 2013. In 2019, Sherry became the Department Director and obtained her CEcD from the International Economic Development Council. She is also a licensed real estate broker and has spent much of her time in the Director position on product and site development, including the Person County Mega Park. 

In 2018, Sherry led the successful recruitment of POLYWOOD, LLC, securing a commitment of 385 jobs and $32.5M in capital investment. In 2021, POLYWOOD announced expansion plans , bringing the total investment to 685 jobs and more then $94 million in investment.

Sherry is experienced with providing support to business and industry, particularly in a local government setting.

She is a member of the IEDC and NCEDA and serves on  numerous boards.

Assistant Director

Michael Thibault (pronounced Tee- bo) joined the team in September 2021 as the Assistant Economic Development Director.

He brings to the department 35 years of experience in commercial lending, as well as having owned his own business. Both his background and congenial nature make him a natural fit to support existing business and industry. 

Michael represents the department with other partner organizations, such as the Uptown Roxboro Group, and looks forward to sharing with others all the things that drew him and his family to Person County!

Senior Administrative Support Specialist

Brandy came onboard with Person County Economic Development in 2019,  bringing years of experience in government and business management.

She provides support to the Person County Economic Development Office as well as serves the Economic Development Commission and the non-profit arm of Person County Economic Development, PCBIC, Inc.

Brandy's roles include data tracking and presentation, research, and records and budget management .
