The North Carolina Military Business Center (NCMBC) is a business development organization and a collaborative effort between North Carolina businesses and the NC Community College System (NCCCS).

The NCMBC is an existing-industry serving economic development entity whose mission is to leverage military and other federal business opportunities to expand the economy, grow jobs and improve quality of life in North Carolina.  NCMBC-assisted clients have won over 2,600 federal contracts, worth over $5 billion since 2005.

With six major military installations, North Carolina is a “military state.”  The military has a $66 billion annual impact, supports over 500,000 jobs and is the second largest sector of the State economy (over 12% of State GDP).  The NCMBC’s job is to translate the presence of the military in our state into economic opportunity for business and residents of North Carolina.

The NCMBC’s primary goal is to increase federal revenues for businesses in North Carolina.  The NCMBC identifies federal contract opportunities, connects these opportunities to businesses, and helps businesses in the state to understand federal solicitations and to submit winning proposals. The

NCMBC connects federal contract opportunities to North Carolina businesses in two ways.  NCMBC business development specialists – in 15 offices across the state – monitor federal opportunities in key sectors and from targeted federal buying offices.  They then use the NCMBC’s database of over 62,000 businesses in the state to identify potential bidders, notify the businesses by email (or any other means!) of the opportunities, and help businesses that request assistance to develop, submit and execute winning proposals.

The NCMBC also manages the State’s official (free) federal contracting portal  www.MatchForce.org, which automatically matches all federal contract opportunities daily to appropriate businesses in the state.  Businesses create a free profile on MatchForce, and receive email notifications when a federal contract opportunity – current or future - imported into MatchForce matches their company’s capabilities.  While the NCMBC business development specialists are monitoring key industries and agencies, MatchForce.org actively matches ALL federal contracts to businesses that register in this unique statewide portal.  Businesses can also use MatchForce to search for federal contracts or for businesses to help them team on federal contract opportunities.

The NCMBC has additional goals to support the integration of transitioning military personnel into the State workforce, and to support the recruitment of defense and other federal contractors to North Carolina.  While the NCMBC encourages employers to post job opportunities on NCWorks, the NCMBC also communicates employers’ job opportunities directly to transition offices at all of the bases in North Carolina.  Transitioning military personnel – and military family members – bring amazing technical skills, leadership, discipline and commitment to the workplace, and the NCMBC goal is to help existing businesses grow and to attract new businesses to our state with this talented workforce.

The NCMBC is proud to serve businesses in all 100 counties in North Carolina.  Person County businesses receive direct support from Denny Lewis in the NCMBC’s office at Durham Technical Community College.  Denny can also call on other NCMBC industry specialists to help all types of businesses to engage – and win – in the federal marketplace.
